The Vikings carved different features onto the front of their long ships as a sign of strength. Some stories tell us they used them to scare off potential enemies and others tell us it was to frighten away sea monsters.
Last week we went to visit the Cathedral to learn more about it's history. The building was built by St Rognvald to honour his nephew St Magnus. We learnt lots of interesting facts about it's Viking heritage and features from modern day history.
We were all surprised to learn that the Cathedral is owned by the people of Orkney and therefore to all of us! Everyone is keen to continue to looking after this special place.
We have been thinking about how we keep healthy and the benefits of being outdoors. One idea was to try and do a mile of either walking or jogging. We decided to measure how far it is around the paths at the Peedie Sea.
How far do you think it is?
After some calculation we discovered it is 0.56 miles.
Now to try and complete two laps without exhausting ourselves!
